History

Pillar To Post® was founded in 1993 by Mike Brewer after experiencing firsthand the lack of professionalism in the home inspection process. At the time, the industry had minimal technical training, inconsistent standards, and little business structure. Brewer saw the opportunity to create a professional system with comprehensive training, consistent operating procedures, and a standardized, easy-to-understand inspection report.

By 1994, Pillar To Post® was operating with formalized training, business startup programs, and industry-leading inspection standards. This structured approach quickly set the company apart. By 2000, Pillar To Post® became the largest home inspection brand in North America. Many early franchisees remain active today, including Charles Furlough, who launched as a franchisee in 1997, successfully scaled his business, and ultimately joined Pillar To Post® leadership, now serving as CEO and President. With over 30 years of consistent growth, Pillar To Post® continues to lead the industry through innovation, strong franchise support, and a proven model for long-term success.
